• Saturn’s solid fuel boiler, Caltherm, is a steel boiler constructed on the principle of three-way horizontal combustion gas circulation. The combustion chamber of the boiler, due to its large volume and proper configuration, is capable of retaining a large amount of fuel and achieving high efficiency. In addition, because the bottom grate of the boiler is water-cooled, the boiler is able to maintain sufficient water supply temperatures in the heating circuit until all the fuel in the combustion chamber is consumed. The biggest advantage of the Saturn boiler is the control of the combustion intensity not in a mechanical (thermostatic valve mechanical tamper) way but by controlling the speed of an inverter-type fan. The control of combustion by adjusting the fan speed leads to the greater economy, higher efficiency (82 %) and greater autonomy (4 to 5 hours of operation at full load with one refill). The wood is loaded through a separate door at the top of the boiler, which is properly designed, allowing the supply of large volumes of wood, while the ash is discharged from the bottom of the boiler where it is collected in a special stainless steel ash pan.
• The operation of the boiler is controlled by an electronic panel which is responsible for the following functions:
• Monitoring of the desired boiler temperature.
• Control of the heating circuit circulator.
• Control the combustion by varying the fan speed in 6 distinct steps.
• Finally, the new models will be able to be connected to a room thermostat for better monitoring of the room temperature and greater economy.
• Saturn’s Caltherm boiler can be used in forced flow systems due to the large water passages within the boiler. The system circulator is controlled directly from the boiler and when the circulator is running or stopped, a corresponding indication is displayed on the control panel.
• The circulator starts automatically when the boiler water temperature exceeds 50 degrees Celsius and shuts off when the temperature falls below 50 degrees Celsius. This is to avoid condensation in the flue of the installation and to make better use of the hot water for heating.
• Another advantage of Saturn’s wood boiler, Caltherm, is its ability to be hydraulically connected to both open and closed circuits. For the safe operation of the closed-type system, a protection system is offered, consisting of a copper heat exchanger and a thermostatic valve. In the event of overheating, the heat exchanger is flooded with cold water from the water supply network, drastically cooling the boiler, which is then discharged to the drain.
